Policy and Programme development
Kingfisher
We have worked with this major international home improvement retailer to re-draft its corporate responsibility policy. The new policy sets out the company’s values and commitments across a range of issues as diverse as conditions in suppliers’ factories, the use of chemicals in products, transport and store management. The new policy provides the framework for new action programmes and measuring and reporting performance across all of the company’s international subsidiaries.
International Paint (Akzo Nobel)
We have recently helped the yacht paint business complete a comprehensive review of its environmental performance. As a world market-leader this business needs to ensure that it matches best-practice in environmental management. The review covered all of the key stages in the business lifecycle from the purchase of raw materials through to product use and disposal. The business is using the results of this exercise to re-engineer its approach to environmental management including new policy commitments, an action programme and a re-vitalised approach to communications.

Responsible Sourcing
B&Q.
We have been closely involved with B&Q’s social and environmental programme, which commenced in 1990 with the launch of the most comprehensive programme for assessing suppliers ever undertaken by a UK retailer. During this period we have helped the company develop a number of policies and programmes for specific product groups notably:
- the consumer paint policy
- strategy for the management of potentially toxic chemical residues in consumer products.
- animal welfare policy
